Plenty of makers and small brands sell on both Etsy and Amazon: Etsy for buyers looking for something handmade or personal, Amazon for reach and, for some, FBA. The trouble starts when the two have to agree. Products are listed twice by hand, stock is updated twice, and a one-of-a-kind piece sells on Amazon an hour after it sold on Etsy. An Etsy Amazon integration fixes that by syncing listings, stock and orders between the two marketplaces, in whichever direction your business needs.

This guide is for Etsy sellers moving onto Amazon, Amazon sellers adding Etsy, and anyone already on both who is tired of doing everything twice. Connecting Amazon with Etsy in both directions is part of the automation work I do, so this is the developer's view: what the rules allow, how the two APIs work, how a listing maps from one to the other, and what to build first.

Is there an official Etsy Amazon integration?

No. Neither company offers a direct connector, and the big multichannel tools leave Etsy out. Shopify's Marketplace Connect links Shopify with Amazon, eBay, Walmart and Target Plus, but not Etsy. Amazon's own multichannel tools in Seller Central, announced in September 2026 and rolling out to US sellers, work with eBay, Shopify, TikTok Shop and Walmart; Etsy is missing there too.

That leaves three routes:

  • A third-party sync app that supports both marketplaces. Quickest to try, and fine for simple catalogues.
  • A hub, where Shopify or an inventory system sits in the middle with a separate connector to each marketplace.
  • A custom integration built on both official APIs, which makes sense when apps cannot handle your variations, personalisation, one-of-a-kind stock or rules.

What the rules allow in each direction

Check this before any code. The two marketplaces want different things, and not every product can move both ways.

Etsy to Amazon. Most Etsy products can be listed on Amazon, subject to its category rules, either as regular listings or through Amazon Handmade. Handmade is application-only, with an audit, for makers and collaborative groups. It charges a 15% referral fee (minimum $0.30 per unit) and waives the Professional selling plan's monthly fee for approved sellers after the first month (Amazon Handmade). Regular listings need a product ID (GTIN) or an approved GTIN exemption, which Amazon offers for items without one, such as handmade or private-label products.

Amazon to Etsy. This direction is stricter. Etsy's Creativity Standards sort every item as made, designed, handpicked or sourced by the seller, and items made with a production partner must say so (Etsy Creativity Standards). Reselling items made by someone else is not allowed, apart from narrow categories such as vintage pieces and some party supplies. A catalogue of mass-produced goods usually cannot simply be copied to Etsy, and a sync that tries will get listings taken down.

So the integration needs a rule for which products are allowed to travel, not just how.

The two APIs: Etsy Open API v3 and Amazon's SP-API

Etsy Open API v3 covers listings, inventory, shop receipts (Etsy's name for orders), fulfilment and shipping profiles. It uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE; access tokens last an hour and refresh tokens 90 days, so the integration must refresh tokens on its own (Etsy authentication docs). Access is tiered: an app for your own shop is approved automatically, while commercial access, needed to offer an app beyond a few shops, goes through manual review. Rate limits apply per API key, per second and per day. At the time of writing, Etsy's docs also list webhooks for orders, listings and inventory, so the integration does not have to poll for every change.

Amazon's Selling Partner API (SP-API) is the official way into Seller Central. A seller can register a private app for their own business, which needs a Professional selling account. Listings go through the Listings Items API or, in bulk, the JSON listings feed; Amazon stopped accepting XML and flat-file listings feeds through the API on 31 July 2025 (Amazon developer docs). Orders come from the Orders API, and ORDER_CHANGE notifications announce changes as they happen.

Both are official, documented APIs, which matters: Amazon's Agent Policy, in force since 4 March 2026, expects automated tools to identify themselves and stop when asked, and a tool built on the SP-API is designed for exactly that.

Etsy Amazon integration: mapping listings and variations

This is where most of the work is. The two marketplaces describe the same product in different shapes.

Etsy Amazon What the sync does
Category (taxonomy) and attributes Product type with its own required attributes Maps each Etsy category you use to an Amazon product type and fills the required fields
Up to two variations per listing by default Parent and child SKUs with a variation theme Turns each variation combination into a child SKU under a theme the product type allows
Who made it and when No direct equivalent Sets these honestly when creating Etsy listings
No product ID needed GTIN or an approved exemption Stores the ID or exemption status per product

Amazon publishes each product type's rules as a JSON schema through its Product Type Definitions API, so an integration can check a listing against Amazon's requirements before submitting it, rather than learning from an error afterwards.

Etsy is changing too. It is preparing a third variation per listing, with developer early access from 17 August 2026 ahead of a general launch, and its docs warn that apps not updated for it may process such listings incorrectly and fail silently (Etsy developer docs). A sync written today should handle three.

Direction changes the work. Etsy to Amazon usually needs enrichment: bullet points, structured attributes and product IDs Etsy never asked for. Amazon to Etsy usually needs trimming and rewriting, plus honest answers about who made the item. AI can draft the missing fields, with a person approving them; AI product listings for Amazon, Shopify and Etsy covers that pipeline.

Keeping stock in sync, especially one-of-a-kind items

Stock between Etsy and Amazon follows the usual pattern for any multichannel sync: one source of truth, an update on every sale, and a scheduled check that corrects drift. The detail is in how to stop overselling across channels.

What is different here is how many Etsy sellers list items with a quantity of one. A one-of-a-kind piece that sells on Etsy must come off Amazon within seconds, and the other way round. That rules out tools that only check on a timer. The integration should react to Etsy's order webhook and Amazon's order notification, set the quantity to zero on the other marketplace straight away, and alert you if that update fails.

For made-to-order products, sync capacity rather than physical stock: how many you can make this week. When the week fills up, both listings show zero together, and both reopen when you raise the number.

Order routing: who ships what

With stock in sync, orders still need a home.

  • You ship everything. Orders from both marketplaces land in one queue or sheet, and tracking numbers go back to the right marketplace through its API. This is the simplest setup and often the best first build.
  • FBA ships your Amazon orders. The integration keeps the FBA count apart from the stock on your shelf, and only syncs the stock you ship yourself.
  • FBA ships your Etsy orders too. Amazon's Multi-Channel Fulfillment can ship Etsy orders from FBA stock, connected through Amazon's Veeqo or third-party integrators. The integration sends each Etsy order to Amazon, waits for tracking and writes it back to Etsy. Check that delivery times and packaging fit what your Etsy listings promise; order fulfilment with Amazon MCF goes into routing rules.

How to build it, step by step

  1. Decide which side is the master for product data and which for stock. They need not be the same.
  2. Clean up SKUs so every product and variation has one SKU used on both marketplaces.
  3. Map one product family first, including its variations, and get it live on both sides.
  4. Sync stock before listings. Stock errors cost money every day; copying listings saves time once.
  5. Add order import and tracking, then reconciliation and alerts.
  6. Roll out to the rest of the catalogue once the first family has run cleanly for a few weeks.

What an Etsy Amazon integration costs

Third-party sync apps charge a subscription, and they are worth trying first if your products are simple. A custom integration costs more up front, fits your products and rules exactly, and is yours to keep.

A two-way Etsy and Amazon sync is two channels with stock and orders kept in sync, which is my Flexible plan for marketplace and ecommerce apps, from $5,500, dashboard included. A narrower first job on one marketplace, such as importing Etsy orders into a sheet or updating Amazon listings in bulk, fits the MVP plan, from $2,500. These are starting prices; every project gets a fixed quote after a short brief. The plans are on the pricing page.

FAQ

Can I list my Etsy products on Amazon automatically?

Yes. An integration can read your Etsy listings through Etsy's Open API v3 and create Amazon listings through the Selling Partner API, as regular listings or, if you are approved, on Amazon Handmade. The work is in mapping: each Etsy category needs an Amazon product type, variations become parent and child SKUs, and Amazon needs attributes and product IDs that Etsy never asked for. Review the first batch by hand before letting updates run automatically.

Should I sell on Amazon Handmade or with regular Amazon listings?

Amazon Handmade suits genuine makers. It requires an application and an audit, charges a 15% referral fee with a $0.30 minimum per unit, and waives the Professional plan's monthly fee for approved sellers after the first month. Regular listings are open to any product but sit next to mass-produced goods and need a GTIN or an exemption. Either way, the integration maps your Etsy fields to whatever product type Amazon requires for the listing.

Can Amazon FBA ship my Etsy orders?

Yes. Amazon's Multi-Channel Fulfillment ships orders from other channels, Etsy included, out of your FBA stock, connected through Amazon's Veeqo or a third-party integrator. The integration sends each Etsy order to Amazon and writes the tracking number back to Etsy. Check that MCF's delivery times and packaging suit what your Etsy listings promise, and remember that personalised or made-to-order items still have to ship from you.

To get an Etsy and Amazon integration scoped, send me a short brief: which marketplace you started on, how many listings and variations you have, whether items are one-of-a-kind or made to order, and whether you use FBA.
